Krvácanie z horného gastrointestinálneho traktu patrí k najurgentnejším náhlym príhodám brušným. Na I. chirurgickej klinike FNLP

The upper gastrointestinal bleeding is one of the most serious events in surgery. There were 191 patients treated because of upper gastrointestinal

bleeding from January 2006 to December 2008 on the 1st Department of Surgery P. J. Šafarik University in Košice, Slovakia.

Urgent gastroscopy was performed in 182 (96 %) patients. Averaged each patient underwent 1,53 gastroscopic interventions. Mortality

of this group was 2,09 % (4 patients). Sufficiency of upper gastrointestinal bleeding treatment in our conditions is similar to that of the other

authors results. Urgent gastroscopic intervention is the most important part of the upper gastrointestinal bleeding management.
